One judge remarked, "It was a Platinum on the nose alone." Expressive dark plum, black cherry, clove and nutmeg aromas are compelling and beautifully integrated on the palate. Its structure is long and supple with superb balance to the tannin and acidity, making this extremely classy. (215 cases, 13.9% alc.)

Doug Brazil, winemaker/co-owner of Chateau Faire Le Pont in Wenatchee, Wash., has won five Platinum awards in the past six years from Wine Press Northwest magazine. This wine, however, wears the title as "Best of the Best" as it outscored the other 748 gold medal winners at the 2019 Platinum Judging. The former Navy helicopter pilot works with one of the state's top vineyard managers, Marshall Edwards, for fruit from perhaps the most prized region of the state for Cabernet Sauvignon. And the site - Shaw 32 - is owned and operated by Dick and Wendy Shaw, inductees into the Legends of Washington Wine Hall of Fame. Expressive dark plum, black cherry, clove and nutmeg aromas are compelling and beautifully integrated on the palate. Its structure is long and supple with superb balance, making this quite classy. It earned its way into the Platinum by receiving a gold medal in June at the Wenatchee Food and Wine Awards.
